A couple who met while working at Amazon’s warehouse near Coalville have now bought a new home on the neighbouring housing development.
Rafal and Marinela Proboszcz have been handed the keys to their new house at Bellway at Hugglescote Grange near Hugglescote.
Rafal, 32, who works as a trainer at the online retailer and Marinela, 30, a process guide, met at Amazon five years ago and were married the following June. Now they have a little girl, Alia, who is aged two-and-a-half.
Rafal joked: “What can’t you get from Amazon!” as the couple now have each other and a family as a result of meeting at work.
The first time buyers bought a three-bedroom semi-detached Fletcher house type on the development. The house extends across three floors including a spacious bedroom at the top complete with dressing room and en suite – Rafal’s favourite part of the house.
The couple are very happy to have the independence of a house that they own themselves after renting a property until now in the village of Thornton, around five miles away from their new home.
“It’s a very different feeling,” said Rafal. “Now, I’m not paying a mortgage for somebody else, and the main advantage is the freedom of not having to ask anyone if you want to decorate or make changes.”
They bought their new house for £261,900 and now they are paying slightly over £700 a month for their mortgage which is not much different from the rent they paid on their previous four-bedroom rented home.
They were keen on the location of the development as both Rafal and Marinela prefer to live somewhere quieter.
“It’s out of town. I don’t like towns, and we were always looking for something on the village side. Here, it’s perfect, it’s a village but it’s close to everything,” Rafal said.
Alia’s playgroup is also only a 10-minute walk from their new home, so nothing needs to change with that when they move in.
They made the decision to buy a place of their own around 18 months ago and after looking at some older properties, they started to think about purchasing from a homebuilder.
They liked the location of Hugglescote Grange, which was convenient for work, and the layout of the development from the moment they first looked at the plans.
The design of the Fletcher house style also appealed. They wanted three bedrooms, plenty of space and a garden for themselves and their little girl.
They reserved their home in February and they were very happy with the level of customer care they received throughout the buying process, especially the help and advice from sales advisor Peter Rodway.
“Peter was spotless, no doubt about it,” said Rafal. “Anything we needed, or any help, everything was there. He helped us choose bits around the house and he was helpful with the whole process.”
The family will be the first people to move into the development, so they have not yet met any of their neighbours, but they are looking forward to being joined by other new residents.
Rafal said: “It’s nice to think that no-one has been there before, and the warranty gives you peace of mind for the next 10 years. You don’t have to worry about it. And everything is brand new and fresh.”
