Sort Legal Shortlisted For Two Regional Apprenticeship Awards

A pioneering Derby law firm with a commitment to nurturing future generations has been shortlisted in two categories at this year’s Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Apprenticeship awards.

Sort Legal, whose head office is in Derby and has a second office in Cardiff, has been shortlisted for SME Employer of the Year at the awards, which celebrate excellence in apprenticeships across the region.

Janet Quinlan-Jones, line manager for the remortgage team, has also been shortlisted for Mentor of the Year for her work supervising the company’s team of apprentices.

The Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Apprenticeship awards seek to identify organisations and individuals who have made a significant impact on the development of apprentices.

The SME Employer of the Year category acknowledges companies that have demonstrated exceptional commitment to apprenticeships, while the Mentor of the Year award recognises individuals who go above and beyond to support apprentices.

Sort Legal employed its first apprentice in August 2017. Since then, it has become a shining example of a business that understands the value of nurturing young talent.

The company was recently ranked 24th in this year’s Top 50 SME Apprenticeship Employer awards, which recognise the nation’s top apprenticeship employers.

Commenting on their nomination for SME Employer of the Year, Kevin Tunnicliffe, CEO of Sort Legal, said:

“Apprenticeships are at the very heart of our company, and this recognition acknowledges our commitment to nurturing young talent and fostering a culture of learning and development.”

“Good luck to all the finalists, we look forward to celebrating the achievements of the apprenticeship community together next month.”

Janet Quinlan-Jones added:

“I am really proud to be recognised as a finalist for the Mentor of the Year award. Supporting the development of apprentices at Sort Legal for the past few years has been a rewarding journey, and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to their growth.

Speaking about the impact Janet has had on her career, apprentice Sidra Bhatti said:

Janet has gone above and beyond since I met her on my first day. She was always on hand to help me with assignments throughout my apprenticeship, and even now I can always go to her for support with any queries or problems. She is kind, caring and very approachable, which is important as a mentor. She’s a special kind of manager, and the team wouldn’t be the same without her.”

The category winners will be announced at an awards evening taking place on Thursday 5 October at the Village Hotel in Nottinghamshire.

Sort Legal was launched in 2016 and provides quality legal services to clients wishing to buy, sell or remortgage their homes. Sort Legal is a branch of Sort Group, which also includes SortRefer and Sort Move.
