Derby Supplement Business Goes Gold at Global Green Beauty Awards

A Derby-based collagen supplement business, SKINGLO, has been recognised on a global scale at an international awards ceremony that showcases the best of green and clean beauty brands.

Its specialist Vegan Collagen Support range won gold in the ‘best collagen supplement’ category in the 2023 Global Green Beauty Awards.

Now in its fourth year, the awards celebrates brands for their commitment to ethical, natural, organic, vegan, zero waste, wellbeing or cruelty-free credentials.

SKINGLO, which is based at Eagle Park, on Alfreton Road, was founded in 2016 and launched in Derby over three years ago. The Vegan Collagen Support supplement has been on the market for less than 12 months, quickly making an impact for its innovation in liquid collagen that upholds a cruelty-free ethos and naturally sourced ingredients.

Alex Campbell, director and founder of SKINGLO, said: “We’re a family run business based in the East Midlands but operate internationally, so we’re thrilled to be part of a global showcase.

“The area has a strong history within the beauty sector, with brands like Boots also hailing from the region. We hope the win will help to shine a light on some of its contemporary counterparts.

“Our liquid formulas are unique, which has really helped to boost our profile in the market. And as interest in greener beauty alternatives continue to grow, as well as the benefits of ‘inside-out beauty’, we’re sure that our vegan range will continue to go from strength to strength.”

Created by the world leaders in liposomal technology, SKINGLO’s drinkable, vegan collagen-based supplement can reverse the appearance of fine lines, and restore hydration and volume to skin for both men and women. SKINGLO’s clinical studies have also shown the supplement can be effective in increasing hair density.

Made in the UK and backed by scientific research, Nutrivitality, SKINGLO’s founding brand, is developed in partnership with The University of Nottingham and The University of Derby.

The team has pioneered NutriProtect technology* which encases its supplements in a ‘life jacket’– called a liposome – keeping the nutrients intact until they get to where they need to be. This ensures better absorption rates than that of traditional supplements.

Head of research and development at SKINGLO, Dr Bhanu Surikutchi, said: “Our scientific team are always searching for new innovations to bring to our customers, and entering into the vegan market was the prime example of this.

“Animal derived collagen directly provides the body with collagen from beef or fish but plant-based alternatives deliver the body with the nutrients to assist the production of your own collagen, instead of providing it directly to your body.

“This, alongside our NutriProtect technology, makes Vegan Collagen Support a really exciting product. It's great to see that the sector and consumers are embracing the range, which this award win is testament to.”

This August, Nutrivitality celebrated a 26% increase in profit and recent expansion into the East Asian market.

Dominique Tufa, editor at Global Green Beauty Awards, said: “The team at the Global Green Beauty Awards were absolutely thrilled with the entry. SKINGLO stood out from other collagen brands on the market because it was a fully cruelty free and vegan friendly product.

“Many people want to incorporate collagen supplements into their lifestyle, but want to do so in a completely ethical manner and this product ticks all the boxes. The collagen is ethically sourced vegan collagen which is easy to take - just shake, tear and drink.  There is less waste with this packaging too, with the easy-to-use sachets.”

SKINGLO Vegan Collagen Support is available online at https://www.skinglocollagen.com/ for £34.99 for a 14-day supply. A global operation, SKINGLO and its sister brand Nutrivitality Ltd. produces over a million liquid vitamins and supplement products every year from its Derby-based manufacturing facility.
